So, a panel needs to be inclined in such an angle that maximum sunrays intercept its top surface vertically. Determination of an optimum tilt depends on mounting techniques, land topography, and climatic conditions [19].

To ensure that solar PV modules are installed at an optimal tilt angle on pitched rooftops, this study proposes a methodology for evaluating the appropriate support structure adjustments to achieve the optimal tilt angle for solar PV systems on a pitched rooftop to receive the maximum annual solar irradiance.

The investigation is performed on real-time solar PV panels of 5 kWp rated capacity installed at 10°, 20°, 25°, 30°, and 40° angle on the rooftop of engineering institute situated at Chandigarh, India. The real-time power generation response for a year is used to find the optimal tilt angle.
